Server Port Is Already In Use

This error is only reported when the listening port for BulletProof FTP Server is currently being used by another program or instance of BulletProof FTP Server.

  • The first thing to check is to make sure BulletProof is not already running. First, close any and all instances of the program on the Desktop, including any copies running in the taskbar at the bottom of your screen or as a system-tray icon at the bottom-right of your screen (by the system clock).
  • Next, make sure there are no copies running as a Windows System Service. By default these are called "BPFTPServer" and you can find them by clicking Start -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Services and Applications -> Services. Now you will have stop any running instances that you find.

If you are still receiving the error message after closing all running instances, then there must be another program installed on the system that is using the listening port. You'll need to find this program and terminate it in order to clear the conflict.
