This server does not seem to support passive mode

Try turning Passive mode off. You do this by changing your options: in Options | General Options | Firewall make sure "use passive mode" is NOT selected and "Enable FTP firewall/proxy" is NOT selected. This will only be available when you are NOT connected to a server.
