Dynamic DNS is useful if your ISP gives you a dynamic IP address which can change at any time. There are multiple companies providing this service for free, such as DynDns.org and No-IP.com. After you've obtained your DDNS hostname, simply plug this value into BulletProof FTP Server and things will work great, even if your IP changes!

Here is how to configure BulletProof FTP server to use your new hostname:

  1. Start BulletProof FTP Server
  2. Pulldown Setup -> Main -> General
  3. Click on "Passive Mode" in the TreeView on the left under "Multi IP Settings".
  4. Click the Use Passive mode IP and click "Dynamic IP" and enter your DDNS hostname.

In addition, it would help to read the following HOWTO about firewalls.
