In secure network environments, ie: FTP Servers which are only reached from your *inside* your network, you'll need to TURN-OFF Passive-Mode support for connecting to BPFTP Server installations which are configured for public-access (Passive-Mode).

Depending on which FTP-Client you use to connect to BPFTP Server, you'll have different instructions. Below are two sets of instructions, one for our BPFTP Client and the other is using Windows (aka Internet) Explorer.

BPFTP Client: Turning OFF Passive-Mode Support
  1. Start BPFTP Client
  2. Pull down the menu options "Tools" -> "Options"
  3. Click on "Firewall (Pasv/NAT)" in the left-hand side of the dialog-box
  4. Turn OFF "Use Passive Mode"
  5. Close BPFTP Client and relaunch BPFTP Client
  6. Connect to the FTP Server
  7. Force a Refresh of the directory listing by right-click on the Remote-Directory (right-hand side) and Choose "Refresh"
Windows/Internet Explorer: Turning OFF Passive-Mode Support
  1. Start Internet Explorer
  2. Pull-down the menu options "Tools" -> "Internet Options"
  3. Click the "Advanced" Tab
  4. In the list of options labeled, "Settings" scroll down to "Browsing" and toggle the option "Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL compatibility)" to OFF
  5. Then open the FTP Site by using the FTP-URL for your FTP Server settings
    ftp://SOMEUSER:SOMEPASSWD@AN.IP.ADD.RESS/

Please Note
In order to connect to FTP Servers outside of your network (aka Internet FTP Servers), you'll need to re-enable PASSIVE-MODE support by executing the same instructions above, but switch Passive-Mode back to ON.
